2018 Juror ~ Angie Littlefield
Curator, Educator, Author, Angie Littlefield taught and was an administrator in Durham Schools for 26 years. As Executive Director of the Durham West Arts Centre, Angie curated many exhibitions but her favourite was The Thomsons of Durham: Tom Thomson's Family Heritage. She's written three books on Tom Thomson and has another two in the works-one on the women in Tom's life. Angie has curatorial experience with the Art Gallery of Ontario and with galleries in Germany. She worked with Mary Cook, the Ontario Historical Society and Ontario Power Generation on readingandremembrance.ca a website with free lessons for educators. When she's not writing or working on art projects, Angie loves to travel. This year she was in the Antarctic Circle and the Arctic Circle within a period of three weeks. She's been involved with PRAC for 15 years. Visit her website HERE.
Juror’s Remarks
The quality of works submitted to the PRAC JAS is at an extraordinarily high
level. Well done artists! Each juror brings his or her eyes on the world to the
selection process. I base my selections on excellence, as do all jurors, but additionally
I look for diversity in the overall show. I want landscapes, abstracts, portraits,
animal studies, large and small works, traditional and non-traditional
works and those in different media, all to be represented. As an educator, I also
see through the eyes of growth. I hope I have selected artists for whom participation
in this exhibition is an encouragement. Finally, I always enjoy working with
the PineRidge Arts Council and thank them for this opportunity to view the fine
art work produced in the region.
We regret due to health issues Valerie Kent has stepped down as our 2018 juror, but we hope to have her back in 2019.
