Monday Evenings, Jan 11 - Feb 1, 7-8pm
Join us on Zoom for our new virtual bibliotherapy program! Bibliotherapy combines reading and talking about books and stories to achieve a more positive sense of wellness. It is a chance to connect with others, discuss how books can help make people feel better, and share your thoughts in a small group. A trained facilitator will lead the reading activities on a weekly theme followed by a guided group discussion. No preparation required. Presented in partnership with the Literacy Network of Durham Region.

Jan 19 or Jan 28 ~ Dementia Awareness, Presented by the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region

Join us on Zoom for this impactful presentation. During this session, you will learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, warning signs, how to get a diagnosis, and treatment options. Learn how to live well with dementia and the supports available in our community to continue to live safely. Gain tips on supporting those living with or impacted by a diagnosis. Everyone can play a part in creating a Dementia Friendly Community! This interactive session will provide practical tips and an opportunity to answer your questions about dementia.

Join us on Zoom for this informative presentation. Are you a renter who is wondering about your rights? Learn about the protections available to you as described in the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA). This presentation will cover everything you need to know, including: what landlords can lawfully do, tenant rights in leases and raises in rent, tenant responsibilities, evictions, and what to do if you have a dispute with your landlord.

Jan 26 ~ Guest Speaker: Dr. Max Eisen, Holocaust Survivor and Author

Jan 26, 7-8pm
Join us on Zoom to hear a special lecture from Dr. Max Eisen, Holocaust survivor, author, and inspirational speaker. Dr. Eisen will share the remarkable story of his experiences in the Auschwitz-Birkenau death and concentration camp, as chronicled in his memoir By Chance Alone, which won Canada Reads in 2019.
