Playing with scale, perspective and the connection between sculpture and painting, Kitchener-Waterloo-based artist Melissa Doherty challenges our perceptions of both landscape and landscape painting. Her work aims to explore the materiality and form of landscape and how the facade and artifice in landscaping can relate to notions of identity.

VACTrans/mission: Barley-Corn-Maize, an installation by Ron Benner
Ron Benner is an internationally recognized, London (ON) based artist who has been producing mixed media/photographic installations, which visually investigate the history and political economy of food cultures for over four decades. For its very first iteration of annual commissions, the VAC has invited Ron Benner to create a yearlong site-specific installation that responds to the gallery and its unique space.

Discover the stories of Oshawa’s Union Cemetery like never before! New year, new cast of characters, new stories to share.
On Saturday September 7 and Sunday September 8, take a tour through Oshawa’s Union Cemetery with the dramatic tour Scenes from the Cemetery. On this walking tour, actors will bring stories to life, portraying people from Oshawa’s past and celebrating these exceptional individuals.
The event runs on Saturday September 7 and Sunday September 8, 2019; Show start times: 2pm; 2:20pm; 2:40pm; 3pm
Tickets are $20 each; tickets can be purchased in person at Guy House or online through Eventbrite (limited number for each).
As the number of tour spots for each group time is limited, we urge you to purchase your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Please be aware there are different dates/times for this event. Be careful when selecting your choice.

Clarington Outdoor Art Festival is an outdoor arts festival of fine art and local food. The event serves three purposes: To celebrate the national Culture Days; to show appreciation for the local art community by providing a platform to exhibit and sell art; to bring the community together for a weekend of learning and discovery. We seek to introduce artists and audiences from diverse communities to each other and offer an inclusive space where ideas are exchanged, questions are asked, and connections are made. ​
